UnterMUD

UnterMUD

The successor to UberMUD, UnterMUD enjoyed some popularity in the Tiny arena for a short period. Its development supposedly had some input from Moira (a known figure in the MUD space).

Unter ended up utilizing the same U language that was developed for UberMUD.

One of the greatest achievements was the creation of the Unterverse, through a technology called Cyberportals. They were components that allowed players to literally enter a portal in their MUD, and then have their character traverse to another UnterMUD (including their belongings). This was something that was attempted in other MUDs later on, but never to the extent that was supported in the later revisions of the Unterverse.

This type of transition, however, required the use of a tiny client, a class of advanced telnet clients that were specifically engineered for connecting to TinyMUDs and supported some features not available with vanilla telnet.
